Local Hero is a project that celebrates and recognizes amazing individuals from Campbell River and surrounding area for performing exceptional acts of service that are selfless and courageous that make our community such a vibrant and rewarding place to live and work.

There are many categories of Hero nominations, including "Community Volunteer" and "Youth Volunteer".

Nominations are now open for 2020 – deadline March 1, 2020.

Volunteer Campbell River

Altrusa Campbell River is looking for new members to join them in helping the community.

They are an inclusive group of people who enjoy giving back through volunteering and/or donations. Their main focus is helping women and children and literacy.

Past projects include:
-Baby's Best Chance gift bags for mothers
-Reading in schools
-Baking for a school lunch program
-Making quillows for Anne Elmore House and Victims Assistance
-Book Give Away at Campbell River library on Halloween
-Salvation Army Kettle Bells

Members have fun with social events and fundraising work bees. Come and see what Altrusa Club is all about - you will find fun, laughter and a wonderful group of committed, caring people.
