2010 Volunteer of the Year Awards!
Call for nominations. Nomination deadline is 2pm Thursday April 1st.
Special events, community programs and fundraisers are all made possible because of volunteers. Volunteer Campbell River is looking to acknowledge and honour these wonderful volunteers! As a member agency in good standing, your volunteers are eligible to win this award! Let’s celebrate our volunteers! Nomination forms are available through mail@volunteercr.ca.
Award categories: 14 – 17 years, 18 – 55 years, 55+
Criteria:
- Make a direct contribution to the quality of life in our community
- Contribute personal time and energy
- Conduct a personal lifestyle that serves as a role model
- Are selfless about their contributions
Nominees and award recipients will receive:
- Recognition in the community through Volunteer Campbell River and the media
- An invitation to the Volunteer of the Year Awards Event
- Acknowledgement at the Volunteer of the Year Awards Wine and Cheese Reception
Important dates to remember:
- April 1st - Nomination deadline is 2 pm Thursday, April 1st
- April 14th – RSVP by April 14th to attend the Volunteer of the Year Awards Wine and Cheese Reception
- April 21st – Volunteer of the Year Awards Wine and Cheese Reception at the Museum at Campbell River on Wed. April 21st from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
National Volunteer Week April 18 – 24, 2010
Mark your calendar and celebrate your volunteers! In celebration of NVW the Campbell River Volunteer Centre will be holding the following events:
· Monday, April 19th - Domino’s Pizza Fundraiser
$1.00 (or an additional donation amount of your choice) from every pizza sold will go to VCR!
· Wednesday, April 21st – Volunteer Awards Wine and Cheese Reception
Volunteer Campbell River will host a new and exciting event with the Volunteer Awards Wine and Cheese Reception being held at the beautiful Museum at Campbell River on Wed. April 21st from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. This event will give our member agencies the opportunity to recognize and honour the many wonderful volunteers in our community and surrounding areas.
- Thurs. April 22nd – Volunteer Management Workshop
Facilitated by Marjorie Driscoll
9 am – 12 noon at the Rivercorp boardroom.
Marjorie will give insight to those managing volunteers with information on Recruitment, Orientation/training, Motivating Volunteers and How to Fire Volunteers.
Workshop fees are $25.00 for VCR member agencies, $40.00 for non members. Please note – this workshop is filling up fast. Pre- registration is required and seating is limited. If you would like to attend, please register soon to avoid disappointment!
Call for new board members
The Volunteer Centre is currently looking for a Secretary and Directors for our board. It is our vision to have the Campbell River Volunteer Society recognized as being an essential force in bringing together and strengthening individuals and non-profit organizations as they contribute to building our community through volunteerism. If you or anyone you know is interested in serving on our board to help sustain the society and support volunteerism please contact Louise at 250-287-8111.
Campbell River Chamber Business Awards of Distinction
The Chamber Business Awards of Distinction will include a not-for-profit category this year. Deadline for nominations is March 29th. For more information please contact Ann at the Chamber at 250-287-4636 or visit www.campbellriverchamber.ca.
