Volunteer CR takes over administration of the Community Calendar!
Volunteer Campbell River is now providing administration of the Community Calendar in partnership with the City of Campbell River. The Campbell River Community Calendar provides information about events in the Strathcona Regional District of interest to the public. To view go to www.campbellriver.ca, and click on Community Calendar 2009. Then click on an event on the calendar to get details.
To post your event send us an email at cradmin.calendar@gmail.com or call Louise or Carol at 250-287-8111.
Please be prepared to provide the following information:
The Title of your event, location, start date and time, end date and time, description, as well as a contact name and phone number. The event must be open to the general public and of community interest. Information about the event should be forwarded well in advance to guarantee timely posting. This is also a great tool to see what else is happening in the community and to help you plan ahead for future events!

Grant Proposal Writing
Facilitator: Marjorie Driscoll, ED Volunteer Nanaimo & Co-owner of Consulting Partners
This workshop examines the Components of Proposal Writing. Participants will learn how to respond to RFPs (Request For Proposals), Foundations request, and local funders. Participants will learn what grant makers really look for in a proposal and some hints about how funders go about making their decisions. You will examine signals that alert you to issues that may affect success in writing proposals. Find out the Do's and Don'ts of effective proposal writing and how to set up a system that can simplify the process. Participants will have the opportunity to look at proposal budget development and partnerships. This workshop is a must for anyone responsible for or wanting to learn how to develop proposal and respond to RFPs

Bookkeeping/Financials for Non-profit Organizations
Facilitator: Kent A. Moeller, CA
Kent’s workshop will cover the differences in types of financial statements such as Audit vs Review vs Notice to reader, as well as internal and external reporting. He will also discuss the differences between Governance vs Active Boards and Board issues with financial statements. Other items to be included in this informative session will be the budgeting process, financial statement analysis, non-profit vs charity, Bingo and Gaming issues as well as document disposal, HST and tax tips!
These workshops will be held at the Enterprise Centre, 900 Alder Street.
Workshop fees are $25.00 each for member agencies
/ $40.00 for non-members.

SHAW Community Announcements and Billing
For those of you that post announcements of community events and volunteer positions, we have confirmed with SHAW that the Community Announcements “The Wheel” will be shown on Channel 4 from 1:30 – 6:30 pm daily.
Also, if you are a non-profit organization receiving monthly invoices from SHAW with a 0 balance, and are concerned about the excess paper, Shaw will provide email bills instead. Please call them if you would like to set this up.
