Volunteer Campbell River Open House
VCR and the Campbell River Chamber of Commerce will host a Business After Hours Event on Tuesday, Nov. 17th, from 4:30 – 6 pm at the Volunteer Centre, 301 St. Ann’s Road, lower level of City Hall.
This event is the perfect opportunity to come in and meet us at the Volunteer Centre outside of our regular business hours that may not always work within your schedule. Learn what we’re all about and see the many rewarding volunteer opportunities available to you and talk about the benefits of volunteering and/or becoming a member agency! We’ll also have our hand made cards and crafts available for sale as a fundraiser for VCR during this time.
Stop in for some light snacks and friendly conversation on Tuesday, November 17th, 4:30 – 6 pm. We look forward to seeing you!
Please RSVP to the Chamber office at 250-287-4636 by Monday, Nov. 16th.

North Island Board Institute Workshop Series
We have had an overwhelming response to our NIBI workshops this year and all 3 workshops are sold out!
Understanding Employee Engagement…Motivating Employees and Aligning Performance to the Organization’s Goals held on Oct. 20th at the Enterprise Centre was a great workshop facilitated by Brenda-Lee Trevison Paul. Brenda gave us insight into Human Resources Management for those people dealing with staff and motivational issues.
Grant Proposal Writing on Tuesday, Oct. 27th was moved to a larger venue at the Maritime Heritage Centre to accommodate more people.
Marjorie Driscoll facilitated a very informative and interesting workshop on examining the different components of proposal writing.
Bookkeeping/Financials for Non-profit Organizations by facilitator Kent A. Moeller, CA will now be held over 2 sessions to allow more participation. Workshops will run on Nov. 3rd and Nov. 10th at the Enterprise Centre boardroom. Both of these sessions are currently full but we will take names for a waitlist. We look forward to hearing Kent’s expertise on financial statements, internal and external reporting, board issues with financial statements, the budgeting process, statement analysis, non-profit vs charity, Bingo and Gaming issues as well as document disposal, HST and tax tips!
Equipment Available
The Volunteer Centre has added a coin sorter and roller to our list of equipment available to member agencies. This can be used free of charge in the boardroom next to the Centre during our business hours. Please call ahead to reserve.
